Safari Overview

The 4 Days Group Gorilla Safari starts and ends in Kampala. The safari takes you through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park- natural habitat of the world’s critically endangered Mountain Gorillas and it later connects you to Lake Bunyonyi- loviest lake located in the hills above Kabale in the South Western corner of Uganda, dubbed “The Switzerland of Africa”. The 4 Days Group Gorilla Safari will combine Uganda’s most elegant tourist activities with unique cultural experiences and taste of world class services from some of the best lodges/hotels in Uganda.

Detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

After breakfast in your Kampala place of stay, our English driver guide will pick you up and depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in South Western Uganda. The drive journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will take you through Masaka-Mbarara High way to Mpambire Drum shop in Impigi and the Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe, where you will have stopover for marvelous water experiments and amazing photo shots. Thereafter, you will continue with the drive through the farmed hill sides and the urban environments of Masaka to Igongo Cultural Centre, where you will have second stopover for thrilling Ugandan traditional lunch. The delicious meal served at Kahwa Kanuzire restaurant in Igongo will give you a real taste of Ugandan traditional cuisine. After Lunch, you will proceed with the drive while enjoying the views of long-horned Ankole cattle, the rolling winding hills and terraced landscapes of the region to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On arrival to the park, you will drive direct to your lodge to check-in, have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Do Gorilla trekking & Evening Cultural encounter with the Local Batwa

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the Park head Quarters for an early morning briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Enter into the jungle for gorilla tracking in the mist after the briefing. You will need to carry a packed lunch and drinking water, wear comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, a light rain jacket as Bwindi has un-predictable weather, insect repellent, sun screen to make the activity a memorable experience. The trek can take you between 2-8 hours to encounter the mountain gorillas and once up close, you will be allowed to spend one magical hour with these stunning apes. During this one hour, you can decide to sit down listen to gorilla crumble, study how these apes go about their daily activities and you can take as many photos as possible. Immediately after the one hour, you will retire back to the park headquarters and drive back to your lodge for late Lunch, relaxation. After relaxation, you will be transferred to the nearby Batwa community for memorable, refreshing cultural encounter.  Here you will be guided by a local guide who will take you to the different communities to see how people have managed to survive through farming.  You will see how local brew is processed from fresh Bananas and forest remedies to get beer and Waragi and also enjoy the performances done by the local Batwa women groups. After that interesting cultural encounter, you will drive back to your respective lodge for dinner and overnight. Thereafter the activity, you will retreat back to your lodge for dinner, memory sharing and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi &do afternoon boat cruise & relaxation

Following an early morning breakfast, embark on transfer drive through the majestic Kigezi Highlands to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda. This area is often called “Little Switzerland of Uganda” and boosts one of the most beautiful parts of the country. On arrival to Lake Bunyonyi, you will drive to your lodge for check-in, lunch and you proceed to catch up with the afternoon boat trip. The other options here are birding, nature walks, swimming or canoeing .After exploring the different adventurous activities in Lake Bunyonyi, you will retire back to your lodge to chill in the fire place while enjoying cool evening of Bunyonyi. Day 4: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on drive transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala drive distance of 437 kilometers about 8-9hours drive without stopovers. The long drive will take you through the impressive sceneries of south western Uganda dotted with local home steads and beautiful Ugandans. After coving distance of 199kms, you will have stopover for Traditional Lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre .On your way, you will by-pass Mpigi village, famous for the Royal Drums Makers and of course the Ugandan Equator, where you will have stopover for photo shot and shop for a souvenir, water experiments.  Thereafter, continue with the drive to Kampala. On arrival to Kampala, the driver guide will drive you direct to your lodge or Entebbe international Airport for your Scheduled flight back home.
